does anyone know how to add a counter to my site? i am curious about the traffic.

Now for what could be the most bitter sweet point of our experience with TBN.Today at 5 p.m. our church aired on TBN. The service aired in entirety and allegedly was really good. What is the bitter part you ask, they did not tell us when it was going to air so we could not market, i mean inform people that we where on national television. ugh! oh well, God has plans that are greater than ours. I guess the good news is that millions of people had the chance to see us todya on tv. if you have tbn, i hear they they are going to re-air the show at 3 a.m. so set your DVR.

on a side note, the brenton marsals (sp) ad for ipod is tight.

i have been painting for 2 days straight and I am still not done. You have got to be kidding me. seriously.

thanks for taking the time to read my junk.

Our house is tore up. We are panting the entire interior and we suck at it. Why did I not hire someone again? Isaiah is 3 and he is currently jumping from his lil’tykes picnic table, that is in the living room for some unknown reason, over the arm into one of our very oversized chairs. the kids got ups, he is clearing a solid 3 feet, landing on his head and then rolling to his back in the chair. his mom would: a. kill me cuz he is not in bed @ 9:47, b. kill me for letting him jump on the furniture, c. kill me for letting him repeatedly land on his head. I better run and take care of him. THis is his school picture from about 6 weeks ago.

Oh yea, the other night we went to a Varsity game and he was yelling C-C-A- it made me proud he was cheering for my boys.

aight then.

I gotta give some props to my BNA crew tonight. First, if you get a second check out my friend Elizabeth’s blog http://zabsdays.blogspot.com/. Also, her husband Jeff and his great management firm (covertmanagement.com).

Finally, on the Nashvegas tip is Eddy Baur http://smorgasboer.blogspot.com. If you are in need of any graphic design work, this guy is really the best in the business. MAD CREATIVE!

So why the love for the peeps today, well this morning I was praying and journaling when I came across an old journal of mine. One of the entries was an old school post (notebook page) done prior to one of our bible studies. The church we attended in Nashville, Bethel, (www.bwoc.org) was amazing at creating discipleship and infecting college campuses. We are in the process of hiring someone to do young adults and small groups now at Calvary, and area where we struggle huge. Part of the discipleship process was a great curriculum and an emphasis on small group development. It is somewhat strange to me that purpose driven churches are GREAT at discipleship, small groups, and community development. Pentecostal churches are great at, church, and that is supposed to cover the rest. At Calvary, we do church on a level that is very high. At the same time, we have 2 small groups and nothing happening for 20’s and young 30’s, and we only have been able to penetrate 1 of the 5 campuses in the area. I am happy to announce we now have an amazing couple on board who have drawn up a plan for small groups and we should have 75-120 by the end of the year. Also, when we finally make a decision on whom is the “young adults” pastor, we will aggressively be addressing 2 of our major weaknesses.

I loved that small group. Meeting with Jay King, Jeff, and Eddy to get in the word, talk about how we are all feeling after turning in our player cards and getting married, having kids…that was an amazing experience and a bond that was great. We all worked together at Gotee, but at the same time, we created and atmosphere where it was just about life, being better at life, and learning together how to win. What an amazing time.

Finally for this post. This is the front of an outreach card that we are sending to about 300 churches to get young people involved for a week of training, evangelism, and street ministry. Stealing a Tony Morgan phrase: “strategically” this is the major week of college spring break activity in Daytona. There will be several thousand young adults in town and we are going to go after them as hard as playboy and Budweiser do…so here is the front of the card.

Sorry for the amazingly inconsistent blogs. I have been doing home remodeling which for those of you who know me is WAY out of my gift mix. Also, we have been SLAMMED to the nines since TBN. I will have an announcement on Friday as to the air date. More to come later as i have a lot to say right now. (haha).

Please be patient with me.

This is strong:

Jim Stengel, the Global Marketing Officer for Procter & Gamble, who controls the world’s largest ad budget ($2.9 billion) and is the new chairman of the Association of National Advertisers, described an industry approaching radical transformation at the annual conference of American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) in February, 2004: “I believe today’s marketing model is broken. We’re applying antiquated thinking and work systems to a new world of possibilities… The traditional marketing model is obsolete.”

I believe this quote can really translate to any field, especially church.

quick recap:

1. wow. the extra lights and production that we brought in was well worth the investment. just wait till you see this on tbn.

2. the place was packed like camp meeting. chairs in the aisles, foyer, and overflow.

3. Everything translated amazingly. the anointing was so strong, at least 30 people came forward for salvation. praise and worship rocked the spot. pastor preached on the “breaker is coming”. when the revelation hit, people became moved in a big way.

4. all our special guests did well. zack tims and pastor’s banter was witty and still powerful. martha did a solid job as usual. make sure to check for her new record on integrity in march.

i will post the air date as soon as TBN lets us know.

if you have not picked up your copy of Good To Great:Social Sector, do it. this is a quick, easy read, that will help you become better today.

now on to the next events: WOW conference, Easter, Mens Conference, and of course, the superbowl party.

This place looks like studio city. it is amazing how quickly we have transformed our joint into ABC sports. 48 foot semi and all.

tonight is going to be special for us. to think that 8 short years ago we had less than 300 people, we had to meet in the gym, and we always needed buckets, not for the offering but to catch the rain drops. i asked pastor this morning what he would have done if 8 years ago someone walked in and told him: “8 years from today, January 18, you will be preparing a sermon that you are going to preach on TBN before over 100 million people”. he just laughed. that is so amazing. to go from that tough of a situation to a place where your tent is being expanded on such a large level. whew…

anyway, more to come as the day progresses and we get ready for tonight. By the way, a must listen is the new Jason Upton album “Open The Earth”…powerful.

Most times in life, I have found that you do not see defining moments coming, so they kind of take you by surprise. While this shows what your character is, maximizing them is not always easy.

This week, we see a defining moment coming and we are preparing for it, in a big way.

TBN, the 800 pound gorilla of Christian TV wants to come to Calvary. Now this is really amazing. We have been feeling like these type of things where going to happen, but it is still a bit odd when they actually materialize. One day about 3 months ago we came back from lunch to hear on the prayer line Stephen gallery from TBN asking us to be on his show. I then followed up with him and he asked the million dollar question: “Why have you not been calling us? We have seen you on TV here in Nashville and we where just curious why you had not called. You guys must be the type that waits for God to open doors.”

And there you have it. So after months of discussions, plans changing about 10 times, and several reschedules, TBN will be in the house Wednesday night. This is pretty big time. We are going to have Martha Munizzi, possibly Smokie Norvell, and of course our very own Trent Cory (peep him, he is hot). Pastor Raley will bring the word and then we will just sit back and see what the Lord is going to do next.

Okay so lots of wierd feelings this morning. I just clicked on the DVR and caught the late late late show with carson daly. i NEVER watch this show. I like carson. He is responsible for the music powerhouse that is TRL and since he left it just has not been the same. Something happened with him though, he was on track to be the next Dick Clark and somehow you got derailed. He was Ryan Secrest before Ryan, anyway that is probably another post.

The musical guest last night was none other than Mat Kearney. I found Mat out in Oregon back during my music career. he was hot then, and he is hot now. he did a great job. i miss him, and my music friends sometimes. usually it is when i go to a show, or i see them on carson daly…ironically.

anyhow, go check his site: matkearney.com or myspace.com/matkearney it rocks like him.
