well, the data will be in tomorrow when we get to staff meeting but it was another great weekend at CCC. our 7:30 service seems to really be picking up. 9 was packed, 11:30 grew to near 100%, heck even carman came (more on that later – yawn).

sunday night was a jacksonville run. pastor preached digging a ditch and it was awesome. those people are so hungry. great stuff.

pieces.

So today Andre Agassi turned what is a normally dull pre tournament press conference at Wimbeldon into a historical moment for tennis. Today, Agassi announced that after this years US Open he will retire. I have been a fan of Andre since the beginning, since the SHORT denim, since Vermont, since before cannon or sprite. back when he was with prince, he rocked nike – hard, he went to mcdonalds in limos after matches…that andre. as he got older, so did i. as he matured, i did as well. it is funny to see him now, he gets accolades for so much more than his forehand. he created the buzz, he brought tennis back, he made it cool again. when i was in high school playing tennis tournaments, every kid @ the club wanted to be down, they all wanted to be dre. before the punisher hit the circuit, back when he was a grunter, and now he is going to go out at the open, amazing.

it has been a life long goal to see dre play a night match at the open. that goal seems like a long shot now, but i did have the privledge of seeing andre play, twice. both matches amazing, both w’s, one during the brooke shield era, amazing. both times i was young, once in high school and once in college. i must admit i was a geek. i waited around to get an autograph, i got a chance to trade a few sentences with andre, he was always a gentleman, always cool, signed every autograph, even the one where the kid chased him to his car as he was trying to leave to go watch UNLV hoops on TV after being around for 2 hours after the match, signed it with a smile, patted the kid and rode off.

here’s to hoping that dre has a great run between now and the open. Hopes that he has a run like the one he ended of Connors when I was a JR. In high school, one that will be memorable like pieties. Hopes that dre ends his run the same way he started it, with a buzz, a big freehand, and everyone talking…He changed the game, lets hope he can change his summer.

here is version 1.0 of our women’s breakfast flyer for September.

so far today has been a wash from taking “emergency” photos for a project we are trying to put together for our school, to a 1 1/2 hour lunch, i did get this done, as well as a poster we are going to use in the community to promote our blended family small group.

i got a taste of our television department yesterday as i had to fill in on the distribution of our programs. we are in the process of educating a new employee and that is always an interesting adventure. He is going to do great. Calvary is just a place that is going to either bring you to the next level of what you do, or roll over you. Ed Young stated “For a person to last at Fellowship Church they have to be a why not person vs. a why person.” the same fits CCC like a glove. you have to be ready to do anything at any time, and that is what makes it so much fun!

i love art, but how weird is the new sprite campaign? those commercials are just odd, period. i dont get them. what does a guy with a mouth in his eye have to do with me buying that soda? i do like the new logo, but someone shocking their tongue to enjoy sprite more, by micro-mini “nurses”, come on…it did not take the boys in the lab long to come up with that one, but it did take some substance abuse.

i am swamped with information tonight. I have been slamming down the data. I finally got my buzz conference cds. I really had NO idea what to expect because i don’t have a church background like most people who have the job that i am doing. So far in 24 hours i have attempted to digest 4 of the 6 “sessions”.

I have heard ed young preach before. (edyoung.org) he is amazing. it was so good to hear him talk about fellowship (fellowshipchurch.org) and how they do what they do. we are so different from this great church, but we are trying to improve “communication” so much. our church is a unique blend, fire Pentecost with a cool, inviting look. not common, but neither was jesus, right? okay so that is where i am. it was SUCH a relief to come to the revelation that i do not have to be the creative creator at calvary, that my job is to just polish, plan, and lead the way i can, from where i am, and that creativity is best through teamwork.

greatness is not an accident, it happens by working hard on the little things, focusing on the details, and putting out the best everything, every time, not matter how hard it is. we are not always going to achieve it, but we have to push, grind, and strive to get there…whew…

so i was just sitting here thinking, i need to blog more.

1. we just started podcasting on our site: calvarychristiancenter.com
2. news journal is doing a story about us.
3. new service schedule is working like a champ.
4. cars is a good time, if your daughter does not feel the need to tell the entire theater she has to poop.

more to come my blog nasty buddies (thats you eddy)
