The New York times ran a story yesterday about President Obama and the “Prayer Caucus” he has built around him. Much the way he has chosen to attack issues, the President has tapped 5 Christian pastors to lean on for policy, prayer, and conversation. These men, all of whom I have to say are very impressive, admit to being involved with the President.

The most interesting thing about this article is the continued emphasis that is put on “Social Justice.” Not theology. Not political strategy. Not a side of the isle, but the desire to help people experience the meat of Christianity, not just the words. Thats impressive.

i dont know the answer. i am a sinner in need of grace. im looking daily for the cloak of humility that i read about. but here are some questions i am thinking about tonight before i go to sleep….

RELIGION:
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.

as i was unwinding tonight we had cnn on in the room and i heard hilary and obama arguing over religion. what if religion vanished? not god…just religion. what if churches became shelters? what if people lived the love, grace, and mercy? what if a movement took place that was so massive that it could not be ignored? what if we unified? what if we all got on the same page? not universalism, but love. what if all the christians put their agendas away and just worked together to make a difference? it can’t happen right now. to many of said agendas, to much money involved, to many kingdoms. but what if it did, for the kingdom? cnn would not be reporting on hilary and obama arguing over reverends. they would be reporting on how love wins. politicians would not fake beliefs in order to secure positions. they would embrace other leaders because of the difference that was being made. rock stars and celebrities could go back to entertaining and allow the church to stand up and be the ones who build houses, solve aids & poverty and eliminate debt…imagine.

dream big

I have not concluded to whom I will cast my vote in the 2008 election. However, I do vote for this video. It rocks. Even if you are not an Obama supporter or fan, just relax and enjoy the video…YES WE CAN.

Super Tuesday…blah blah blah…before you start freaking out, I know it is important. I get it. Really. The problem is, what do you do when none of the candidates are attractive? sure, as “CHRISTIANS” we should be on the Huck buss. We can not like Rom’s he is not one of us. And Clinton or BO…off limits…the abortion issue, remember!

I have no political tie at this point. I am researching. Digging. Asking a lot of questions. Jason says that America is looking to the President to save the country, but the fact of the matter is that is only going to happen when people start caring. I am against abortion. I think it is unacceptable, yet every day “fiscally responsible millionaires” abort the guy who is 55 and lives under the bridge, or worse, 70% of the continent of Africa. We are aborting them to…just later in life. Socialized medicine is not the answer, but what we have does not work. The economy is slipping, everyone is feeling it, where do we turn?

The next few months will be interesting. What are we going to do? Just like every candidate has a slew of weaknesses, they all also have great strengths. McCain is crazy but he is a leader. He is a no BS kinda guy. Rom knows biz. He might be able to figure out how get this joint back on track. Hillary has done this before, and don’t think that does not count for something. Hucks has integrity and character. You have to respect that in a leader. Barak has charisma. If now is not his time, it will be soon. And with like 3 minutes of research you will see he is not a muslim, so relax.

Pray. Figure out what is important to you and your community. Pray some more. Figure out who can help the masses, not just the “me’s”. Enough for now. I don’t do politics in public. Not my vibe. But after a barrage of “SuperBLAH BLAH” I had to roll something out. Back to the normal stuff kids. Grammy show is gonna rock, check it out. The TIME BABY!

Do you have time to log on to the one.org website and help end global poverty? I’ve just signed a petition to the 2008 presidential candidates asking them to go on the record and tell us exactly where they stand on fighting extreme poverty and global disease.

You can take action on this important cause too by visitinghttp://www.one.org/ontherecord Thanks for helping…you can make a difference.
