What are you wearing?

“Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. New you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. Words like Jewish and non-Jewish, religious, and irreligious, insider and outsider, uncivilized and uncouth, slave and free, mean nothing. From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you; compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Mastor forgave you. And regardless of what else yo put on, WEAR LOVE. It’s yoru basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”

Here is a copy of the last portrait taken by Heath Ledger. I feel for him. Life can at times be a search for peace.  What if this person walked into your world, your ministry, your life? What would you do? What could you do? Well, that person walked in yesterday and will walk in again today and tomorrow!

Grace and Peace

Listening to a podcast today. The sermon was about Grace and Peace. In Paul’s day, every conversation started off with “Grace and Peace to you.” What if that was our philosophy for approaching conversations? It is hard to be mad at someone when you ask for grace and peace to be poured out to them prior to starting the conversation. Not a profound concept but one that changed 3 of my conversations today. Give it a try and see how it fits into your situations.
