I love the Underdogs. You know, the people who are not supposed to make it? The screw ups. The bad news bears. THESE ARE MY PEOPLE. Even more fun is the “Perceived Underdogs”. Perceived Underdogs are Underdogs because they are not understood, or they are underestimated. Right now, I feel like Christians are “Perceived Underdogs”. But guess what…the upset is coming.

I LOVE THIS IDEA RIGHT HERE! Servolution. And I think it is SO DOPE that churches all over the countries have joined the Servolution. I have been getting Texts and Tweets from friends who are partaking. From FREE BREAKFAST in Nasvhille, to a STRIP CLUB MINISTRY in the ATL…Christians are passing on guilting people into salvation and are actually getting into peoples lives and living the love.

Matthew says: Love God and Love Others. Stop making it hard. Stop making it about you. Stop making it about our thing. LOVE PEOPLE. Love them early, love them often, keep loving them even when you get successful. Love them when they disappoint you. Love them when they win Love them when they lose. When they screw up and and they get it right….LOVE THEM. Love…thats all

Saturday night was crazy, not much sleep, not much rest, but I was in Nashville on a Sunday and had to take advantage of the opportunity to go and check out Cross Point Church. I have formed a cool friendship with Jenni, Pete, and Brandi and had to check out what was happening. (Good timing cuz now Pete is a rock star, thanks to Los)

I arrived at CP and was blown away by how many people were moving around. Cars everywhere, people everywhere, smiles, hellos, handshakes, it was a very friendly, genuine atmosphere but without being intimidating. We made our way to the sanctuary, a few minutes late, and found a seat in the dark auditorium. The band was leading worship, and broke into Mighty To Save. Very talented band, great atmosphere set by the tech team and a solid worship experience. A very funny Tom Tyndall made the transitions smooth and Pete came up to speak.

Pete was starting a new series called, Crazy Love. I was challenged to ask what I am called to do, and how to create a healthy balance between my spiritual, church, and unchurched relations. Great kick off to a new series. Video rocked (you can check it here). After service, people hung out, talked, chilled etc.

2 things happened that impressed me the most. 1. Brandi, who I had just met in person for the first time, asked about Jackie and how she was doing. There was a sincere concern that I felt. That was cool. 2. As Tyler and I walked to the car, we passed the kids area and a girl, probably 9-10 years old came running to her mom. Her first word: “Can I invite my friends to come to church with me next week?” Kids, wanting to expose their peers to something that is impacting their lives. Very cool.

If I lived in Nashville, even without a relationship with Pete, I would attend CP. It is a great, growing, exciting church that is committed to helping people become Crazy For God, Crazy For Community, and Crazy For the Lost. If there was one recommendation I would give to Pete and crew, have a couple of CP’ers out on the street welcoming people and directing them where to go. Other than that, I am all in on what you do and pray that you guys continue to make a massive impact on your community!

A few quotes to share (may not be verbatim):

  • We never started CP to be a big church. If your goal is to have a big church, things are going to get weird.
  • Growth is not the goal, health is the goal.
  • Health is created when there is a balance between Intimacy with God, Community with Others, and Influence with Outsiders.
  • It all comes down to Love.
  • The opposite of Crazy love, is normal ordinary love.
  • I wrestle every year about this time with the question am i doing what I have been called to do, and am I working in my gift mix.
  • A church with no community is just a crowd.
  • Acts 2:42-47, John 13:35, Matthew 22:36-40, Galatians 4:19, Hebrews 11:36-38

Today has been one of those days. By that, I mean the days I LOVE! Got a chance to hang with some great people. Have some great meetings. Talk about the 2 things I am passionate about….how to live out church and worship music. I am so blessed to have a job that allows me to do this, daily! Pete and Jenni, have a great thing happening at CrossPoint.TV. Mad cool peeps. Got to kick it with iTunes peeps, Provident peeps, our Nashville office crew…cool stuff.

More to come, just giving you and update. Hope that you got to do some to the things you love today. If you did not, make time…do it now. Do not go through a day without embracing some of the things that God created for you to enjoy doing! Enjoy the life you have been created to live.

For those of you who have been faithful to my blog, thank you. I have been under the waters of GMA for the last week. 2 weeks on the road reminds me of my life before a wife and kids…glad to be back with them.

A few highlights from last week. I got a chance to have coffee with Pete. What a great guy. I wish we would have had longer together. he has an amazing heart to see the world changed via relationships…LOVE IT! we had some great conversation packed into a short time. Can’t wait to get back to BNA to get a chance to hang out with him. It is interesting to me how the blogs help people connect. As we sat down he said, ‘you really love the church’. My response was that it is a love hate relationship really. love what it could be, hate what it is sometimes. Funny how God always brings you back to the same themes in life.

next, we had a great photo shoot with lincoln brewster. (pictures below) I can not wait to see what God does with this guys record. First single is only a few weeks away, and i can not wait to share it with you.

Joel and Worth Dying For worked their butts off this week. I am proud of all of them.

enough for now. I have amazing stories to tell but it is time to play with the kids, and jackie.

My friend, Pete Wilson, has a growing ministry in Nashville, TN. Make sure to check out his blog and his church site, CrossPoint.tv

Here is a video promo for PLAN B, a new series they are running. This promo is so good, I might have to travel to Nashville just to check it out!
