Reading Nehemiah 9 today and found this encouraging. The priests began to pray and the lion share of their prayer was not about them. It was about Him. They did not bust out their laundry list of needs, wants, and desires. They prayed to Him because he was worthy of praise. There is a lot to ingest in this chapter but one thing for us to think about today:

“You’re the one, God, the God who chose Abram….You found his heart to be steady and true to you and signed a covenant with him…and you kept your word because you are righteous.”

Not because he was perfect or lived up to the expectations of others. Not because of his deeds or service. Not because of his title or his history..only because his heart was found to be steady and true.

grace and peace today as you find the steady and true place
