Steve Underwood is a long long long time friend and free lance writer in Atlanta. Steve has been one of my best friends since high school. Currently Steve is ghost writing a top secret book that I can not tell you about…thats how he rolls. If you are in need of any copy writing, hit him up. Here is a rant he sent me today that I loved and had to share.
So the production credits for Madonna’s new record read: Pharrell, Timbaland, and Danja. PERIOD. She’s swinging for the fences. Could it be “Justified” Part 2? Which was the best record Michael Jackson never made, and my most worn-out record of the ‘00s.It’s like someone created a formula for a hit single using the following calculations: Madonna + Justin Timberlake x Timbaland and Danja = GET OUT OF THE FREAKING WAY. Then they thought, Wait, what are we missing? Oh yes, Kanye West*. Check.
What, was T-Pain too busy sucking to hop on a track?Release this shiz, Warner Bros. NOW.*
“Flashing Lights” is the most brilliant video I’ve seen in some time. Hotness? Implied, but not visualized, violence? An ambiguous ending that makes The Sopranos ending look satisfying in comparison? Okay, fine. Permission granted to run his mouth.

The net is a buzz with the word that just days after signing U2 to a 12 year deal, LIVE NATION is days away from revealing they have a reported multi million dollar deal in place to secure JAY-Z. This would be a great way for Jay to pay for his upcoming wedding to Beyonce. The face of the music industry is changing and while it is scary, it is also exciting.
Congrats to Mariah
…She has just made history. Mariah just scored her 18th number 1 single. 18…Touch my Body just moved Mariah past Elvis Presley with 17 singles and now has her eyes on the Beatles @ 20… Touch My Body is a buzz. MC knocked our girl, Leona Lewis after just 1 week.
We had a POWERFUL chapel yesterday. Marcos Witt was our special guest. Marcos owns a Latin American distribution company as well as is the lead pastor at the Lakewood Spanish church in Houston, TX. No surprise, Lakewood has the largest spanish church in America. Marcos waxed on the following:
- Differences melt in worship
- At the end of the day, there are 2 types of leaders. 1 – wall builders who build walls to keep people in or keep people out. 2 – Bridge builders who are looking to extend and partner. These leaders love team synergy even if their ideas are not the best and want others to have a voice. Bridge builders usually build around ideas not personalities.
- America and the American church are consumed with a domestic view and not a world view.
- In Isaiah God talks about bringing rivers together. For this talk, these rivers represent culture.
- Isaiah 43
- (I did not catch the name of the leader who made this statement) “The coming of global Christianity” In the next 50 years Latin America & Africa will be the epicenter of Christianity and the anglo world will be the mission field.
- There are some main differences between anglos and latins but the 2 differences in cultures can create a better life for both if we integrate the best of cultures together.
- Immigrants adapt to the new culture they are experiencing.
- Order without warmth is legalism. Warmth without order is just emotion.
- What do we do with all the hispanics coming to our worlds?
- Believe in them – Latin Americans in general lack affirmation. (So does everyone else)
- Do not qualify your love. It is not about people conforming, it is about unconditional love.
- Embrace the culture. Don’t try to convert them, just assimilate. Use the passion of the Latin culture to better what you do. (if you have a church, make your Latin friends greeters)
- Dignify their culture – Treat people like you would like to be treated. Respect them, care for them, love them. Resource them (not the fellowship hall…the sanctuary), provide tools, education, and empowerment.
When Zophar gets his turn, he does not even waste time tearing into Job. A few minutes prior, Zophar was crying and ripping his clothes for mercy to come on his friend Job, and now he has his religious feathers tweaked and just opens up on Job. After verbally undressing Job, he goes on to say that if as Christians we “live right” we can expect a life that will allow us to “…sit back, and take it easy.” That is kind of the problem. For to long we have been sitting back and taking it easy and we have not taken the time to help the wounded, the hurting, and the lost. Understand, I have made some of the biggest mistakes in my life over the course of the past 10 years. BIG ONES. Thank God for repentance, but few people stand with you when you are “dirty”. It is interesting that the friends of Job turn into the attackers of Job. Now Job really didn’t do anything wrong, but what started out as a visit out of love turned into an attack. Where is the follow up? The love of Christ on this poor guy.
Job has had enough…”Its easy for the well-to-do to point their fingers in blame, for the well fixed to pour scorn on the strugglers.” What happened to, how an we help you Job, how can we help you recover, get better? Job is wise, he knows where the true wisdom and power reside…in God. Since he does know this, he just goes straight to God. As Job pleads his case to God, he admits that this situation will work out because how it works out is his salvation. Salvation is the win…Im glad i have embraced the win…
