Imus vs. nike, Transparency, being right.

A couple of things as I am in a MAJOR rush to write this (which by the way is not the recipe for success).
1. Imus is an idiot. to say what he said and react how he reacted is unacceptable and he deserves his fate. what is amazing about the situation is how nike has taken this event and morphed it into a new campaign. I give them props for jumping in while the iron is hot, and promoting further discussion about race in america. i must say, marketing for nike would be a fantastic gig. in pure amazing nike form their print ad is a white page with black text that reads as follows:
“Thank you, ignorance.
Thank you for starting the conversation.
Thank you for making an entire nation listen to the Rutger’s (sic) team story. And for making us wonder what other great stories we’ve missed. Thank you for reminding us to think before we speak.
Thank you for showing us how strong and poised 18 and 20-year-old women can be.
Thank you for reminding us that another basketball tournament goes on in March.
Thank you for showing us that sport includes more than the time spent on the court.
Thank you for unintentionally moving women’s sport forward.
And thank you for making all of us realize that we still have a long way to go.
Next season starts 11.16.07.”

GENIUS.

2. Transparency: Transparency is the key to remaining genuine. if you can not live transparent, you need to find out what is holding you back from achieving this goal. transparency is a process and a journey. Transparency is difficult. Transparency requires humility, vulnerability, and the ability to embrace criticism. i am not yet as transparent as i need to be. pray for your weaker brother.

3. a friend of mine said this to me today and it was amazing: it is more important to be righteous than it is to be right. wow…that will end a lot of disagreements.

rip hip hop

the end.
